Sebring GT fronted Mk I Sprite: WBT 393

This is the oldest car on the register of Sebring GT fronted spridgets, the only known Frogeye with a Sebring GT front, and is owned by John Keener, Chairman of the Austin Healey Club. John located the car as an abandoned project in 2007. The previous owner had ordered the front in 1967 direct from Williams & Pritchard to go onto this car, paying £37 for the front and £4 for the W&P lens covers. Unfortunately the lens covers are still being hunted for in the previous owner's loft and have not been fitted yet, but you can see the factory drill holes in the light scoops!

After an initial paint job in silver to an unsatisfactory standard, the car was then laid up in a garage with the Sebring GT front unfitted for 40 years, as an unfinished project. John took it on in late 2007 and worked very hard to complete it in time for the 50th birthday celebrations of the Sprite at Goodwood and Gaydon in May 2008. The car is finished in mineral blue, an Austin Healey colour, and it also interesting to note the cut out behind the seats, possibly to accomodate a previous owner's dog (or a small child - such things were not unknown in a less safety conscious age!)
