This Dutch orange Sebring GT Sprite belongs to Mark Dols in Holland and was built in 2006 / 2007 using a Sebring GT hardtop and bonnet formerly owned by Dave O'Neill (although on different cars). The car was christened in the FISC EuroTour series at Monza in late 2007. Note the side cooling vents that Mark has added and the ingenious indicators inside the headlamp scoops, leaving the indicator holes clear to be modified into ducts for cool air on to the brakes. The hardtop also sports a stabilising fin of his own design. Although very much a modern conversion, this is the first complete Sebring GT bodied car to compete on track to the knowledge of the Register - although cars with the front, and with the hardtop, seperately, have been competed historically. This car has to be the acid test-bed of Len Pritchard's design, with its aerodynamics, grip and cooling all put to the test in anger. Mark's race sprite is also the only known complete Sebring GT spridget outside of the UK. If you know otherwise, get in touch!
In Mark's own words below:
“Sure.. , you can put my (new dream) race car on your website. It is funny because I bought them thinking they were an Ashley hardtop and front, but as you say they are different, it is a Sebring GT Sprite ... funny, but is is a good design and it goes well. Before this one I had a race midget with an Ashley hardtop, without the spoiler on the boot, and a Sebring [Mk 1] bonnet ... but it ... it is crashed and dead, I liked that line/model too. But with that car on fast corners the rear lifted a bit and with this car with the spoiler I dont have that any more...”
