Deep Sanderson 105 - "Twinny"

the body at W&P's works above, and Chris Lawrence behind the wheel below in 1963

The Deep Sanderson 105 "Twinny" was a twin engineed single seater Formula Junior race car built by Chris Lawrence in 1961. Powered by two Downton tuned A Series 1071 cc engines it has four wheel drive and is a famous if unusual sixties racer. The car has been recently restored by Chris Lawrence and was raced at Goodwood in 2008.

W&P built the alloy body for Chris which completely lifts off the chassis for ease of access to the two engines.

Chris Lawrence comments:

"The Deep Sanderson 105 twin engined single seater was entirely Charlie's work, no egg box (buck) from us. The Mini engines are inconveniently tall for a single seat car with no prop shaft so his solution for the shape of the car was extremely successful and in my opinion one of his very best efforts."

Many thanks to Chris Lawrence for permission to use these photos from his private archive.
