This is Reinald Kirchner's race Spitfire with W&P Sebring GT hardtop, which Reinald has modified for re-fuelling purposes, moving the central filler cap. Reinald knows of two other Spitfire Sebring GT hardtops in Germany.
In Reinald's own words:
"I stumbled over your website, and after some years, now I'm sure what I've got here. I use it on my Spitfire 1500 racer and have to admit, that I modified it bit over time to make it match the purpose best. Initially it was a black one, but this spring I resprayed it (together with the rest of the car) to vermillion red. I relocated the fuel filler - the location was pretty bad for a refuelling job within the race, with a high chance of pouring fuel over the hot exhaust, or at least to burn your legs on the exhaust when standing behind the car! I attach some pictures of my car and a scanned advert ... I know of two other Sebring GT Fastback-Hardtops for the Spitfire MkIV in Germany, that are already in use or currently in rebuild.".
Many thanks to Reinald for the use of his photographs and text.
