Severin Thompson owns this very competitive Mk I Sprite which he has raced over several years in the US mid-west.
In Severin's own words:
"As a long time Healey owner, and Sprite racer, I’ve been collecting numerous rare noses and hardtops for many years. I have a W&P nose on Redrum, my main race car… pictured above at Road America, Elkhart Lake, WI.
I always thought there was more than a slight resemblance between the Sebring GT nose, and the nose of the Works Targa Florio cars around 1967. Perhaps W&P made those for the works? In fact, I’ve often referred to mine as a “Targa” nose until the Sebring GT name surfaced. (a reference to the Clive Baker / Rauno Aaltonen '67 Florio Sprite LWD 959E, which has a similar shaped nose and air intake, some features of which were perhaps copied into the design of the Sebring GT front also launched in '67 - the Registrar is currently researching possible connections)
I bought my first Healey in 1973 while in high school… a BN6… still have it. My first Sprite was a car called "the Bishop". I have a few other interesting Sprites, including "Walter". Both of those cars are very unmolested original race cars."
