List of Work

This list is an ongoing project and so is incomplete. We know that there are certain gaps in it, which will be filled as research progresses. In addition the list does not currently include any of prototype work done in the eighties, neither does it detail the many "re-bodyings" of Lotus 6's, 7's, 9's, 11's, Sebring Sprites, Cooper Monacos, King Cobras, Jaguar D Types, Costins, and various replicas carried out in the eighties and early nineties before Len Pritchard retired. This information will be added in due course.

The list also does not show the ongoing work throughout the sixties and seventies for bespoke parts for Lotus motorsport division, which are documented in the company archives, nor later contract work for other manufacturers like Panther Westwinds. All work shown on this page has been researched, but please get in contact if you think anything is wrong, if you can add to the list, or if you can shed more light on any of W&P's work. Given the width of W&P's work, all marque-specific expert input is very welcome indeed, please feel free to send any amendments!

There is a "help us" section below the table which highlights areas where our knowledge is weak and you may be able to help.

Please note that assembling this information has involved substantial original work, and so whilst you are very welcome to use this as a reference point, please do not copy the table or any part of it without asking us first - we are always happy to help, but this table, the text, layout and data within it is protected under UK and EU law by copyright and database rights, all of which are reserved to the Register.

Help Us - Information Wanted:

  • Any information relating to work done by W&P for the Donald Healey Motor Company, specifically that may relate to the "XHQS Super Sprite" or to any other small car or pre-Sprite Mk II prototypes from the early sixties built to a Les Ireland design, but which didn't make it into production.
  • Any information about RUM 2, the Jack Walton Cooper-Bristol special built circa 1955

  • Any information relating to the involvement of W&P in work for Lola, including possibly the 1967 Le Mans Lola / Aston Martin T70 Mk 3 GT (given their relationship with John Surtees and a series of photos in the W&P company archive):

  • Following a specific line of enquiry, any information on work relating to the first two Shelby King Cobras, and specifically whether Cooper sub-contracted to W&P any work on the adapted Monaco bodies before they were shipped to Shelby American (we are aware of some subsequent replacement King Cobra bodywork done by Len in the eighties, but in conjunction with a US author are trying to establish or eliminate once and for all W&P involvement in the sixties).
